Some groups on the left and right who offer only complaints: Ministers are moving forward with the job of economic rejuvenation.

At the budget last week, we made the right choices for Britain, cutting the cost of energy with £150 off bills, protecting the NHS and addressing the issue of youth deprivation by removing the two-child limit. Measures were also taken that the revenue we raised through taxes was done justly, with each person chipping in but those with the largest means paying what they owe.

Because of the policies implemented, the budget established a firmer financial footing, reducing price increases and sovereign debt returns. This is crucial for defending our public services, when one pound in every ten expended by government goes on debt interest.

Building on Economic Foundations

The plan reinforces the action we have already taken to enhance economic performance: directing £120bn toward new investments in such things as highways, railways and utilities; implementing major regulatory changes in a generation to favor construction, not impediments; advocating for the growth of Heathrow and Gatwick; and concluding commercial agreements with the EU, India and the US.

Collectively, these have allowed us to outperform our expansion estimates.

Rejuvenating Our State

As I explained at the party conference, the government’s purpose is exactly the renewal of our economy, our communities and our state. By doing that, we will stop degradation and reestablish confidence in our country.

We will challenge those on the left and right who only offer complaints and whose approach would lead to further decline. Let me be clear, ramping up deficit spending or returning us to austerity – that is the approach of deterioration and I will not accept it.

A Comprehensive Growth Mission

Through remarks coming soon, I will situate the financial plan within the broader commercial rejuvenation on which the government will be judged at the end of this parliament.

For us to realize the national renewal we seek, we must do more to promote development, to tackle inactivity among young people and to pursue closer international cooperation with our trading partners.

Administrative Streamlining Program

Our expansion agenda will include a reinforced attention on eliminating needless bureaucracy. Often it has been those on the left who have preferred controls, but there is nothing advanced in regulations which only function to boost the cost of living for the poorest, to hinder financial expansion unnecessarily, or stop a progressive administration achieving its aims.

Hence the rationale I am asking the business secretary to address the category of pointless gold-plating and superfluous bureaucracy that increase expenses and get in the way of our industrial strategy.

Welfare State Modernization

Financial revitalization likewise requires that we must continue to reform the welfare state. We inherited a failing system that left children too poor to eat and which wrote off young people as unfit for labor.

We cannot tolerate either part of that failing Tory system. That is why we will do more to support adolescents in reaching their abilities.

Because if you are ignored in your early career, if you are refused the help you need to manage emotional difficulties, or if you are merely dismissed because you are having neurological differences or impairments, then it can trap you in a cycle of unemployment and reliance for decades.

This creates economic costs, is harmful to our efficiency, but much more importantly, it takes away opportunity and disregards ability. Any Labour government worthy of the name should not overlook it.

This is the reason we have tasked a previous healthcare official to make actionable suggestions to help young people with health conditions access work, training or education – guaranteeing they receive assistance to thrive and not sidelined.

International Trade Enhancement

Ultimately, we must take further action to help our businesses engage in worldwide exchange. There is no credible economic vision for Britain that does not place us as a welcoming, business-oriented country.

We have to address the reality that the mishandled separation arrangement significantly hurt our economy. It isn't necessary to have a PhD in economics to know that constructing needless commercial obstacles with your largest commercial ally will hurt growth and raise the cost of living.

Therefore a component of our economic renewal will be maintaining progress in the direction of a enhanced business association with the EU. Should we obtain less expensive nourishment, improve development and produce work opportunities by having a closer relationship with the EU, we should.

A Substantial Strategy for Significant Challenges

An economic package built on just selections for Britain must be supported by resolve to achieve the commercial rejuvenation that the country needs.

Via executing a major, confident protracted program, not a set of quick fixes, we will renew Britain. We must become again a serious people, with a serious government, able collectively to undertake challenging tasks to retake charge of our prospects.

Via possessing an unambiguous objective to rejuvenate our finances, our localities and our nation, we will implement the transformation we pledged – and then be evaluated based on it during the upcoming vote.
