Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait the full month. An highly anticipated trial experience is set to release on Jan. 7, offering a generous taste into the game's initial chapters. Importantly, all save data made within this demo will be able to be transferred directly into the full game upon its February debut.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Transformation

This project constitutes a ground-up re-envisioning of the landmark year 2000 role-playing game, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from recent series remakes, such as the recently released HD-2D iterations, this remake adopts a striking 3D aesthetic. Environments appear to look like detailed miniature worlds, with protagonists having a delightful chibi-esque design.

"Taking into account the 3DS version, the main quest was still quite extended. So we reached a conclusion that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for today's players."

Major Gameplay Improvements and Updates

The creators has added a host of modernizations to streamline the classic gameplay loop. These include:

• Streamlined Field Battles: Taking a cue from modern role-playing games, weaker foes are now dispatched directly on the field without initiating a separate traditional combat sequence.
• Variable Battle Speed: Gamers can speed up combat animations to quickly power through less challenging encounters.
• New Job Mechanics: One completely new character role has been introduced for this remake. Additionally, party members now have the ability to master a secondary job, significantly enhancing customization possibilities.

These changes are designed to tackle one of the 2000 title's frequent criticisms: its considerable length. The initial main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to see through. This reimagined version has been specifically structured to refine progression and reduce any repetition.
