Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the court heard phone records and data obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most covered child disappearance cases and continues to be open.
'I Don't Want Money'
One voicemail, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I know what I know."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be important for you?"
"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to understand," the message continued.
The jury was informed that by means of emails, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.
The investigator, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who gathered the evidence, advised the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to family friends of the McCanns, as per the phone records.
On that date, Gerry McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."
That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will continue and I will prove my position."
The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a visit to the McCanns' home in the county in that winter.
Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted through communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the time before the visit to the village, the county, in that winter.
The court learned correspondence between the two individuals, in November 2024, discussing attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from cutlery at a restaurant.
"We need to assert ourselves," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the trip to their residence, Mrs Spragg dispatched a communication which stated: "We are sat adjacent to the McCanns' house with our vehicle dark resembling investigators. I wanted to achieve this with another person I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The case continues.
